Osaka meeting of the G8

The G8 met today in Osaka, Japan and discussed the world issues, preparing for the Summit in Hokkaido-Toyako. The FT presented their communique (G8 finance ministers’ communique,, June 14 2008), where the main topics regarded the world economy and commodity prices.

Some parts that I underlined in the article were:

“the world economy continues to face uncertainty and downside risk persists”
“strains remain, especially in money and credit markets”
“commitment to an open investment policy”
“encourage further progress on facilitating cross-border financial services”

Concerns regarding the rise in oil prices were expressed and the ST. Petersburg Energy Security Action Plan was mentioned, among encouragement to address climate change, supply, the functioning of the commodity markets.
